Lambros Doulos

Associate Professor, School of Applied Arts and Sustainable Design, HOU

Dr. Lambros T. Doulos is an Associate Professor at the School of Applied Arts and Sustainable Development of the Hellenic Open University.

As a Researcher works in research programs, measurements, studies and lighting projects.

To date, he has participated in 67 research projects from which more than 100 publications in scientific journals, international conferences, national conferences and national press have been published. Some of his research interests are the rational use and saving of energy in lighting systems, the use of daylight in buildings, the development of innovative photosensors, the function of the human eye and the derived correlation between lighting, health and well-being, the evaluation of lighting installations in buildings, streets and tunnels, lighting design and improvement of lighting installations, street lighting, light pollution, minimizing its negative effects and creating protected areas, tunnel lighting and lighting measurements both in street, tunnel and interior areas.

He has collaborations with lighting companies and has carried out numerous lighting projects and studies.

He is a member of the CIE International Lighting Committee (participation in 6 technical committees) and the ISO committee (participation in 1 technical committee) in drafting instructions and regulations. and official RELUX Certified Trainer.

Dimitrios Stergiou

Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences, HOU

Dimitrios Stergiou is an Associate Professor in Tourism Management and the Director of the Postgraduate Programme in Tourism Business Administration at the School of Social Sciences at the Hellenic Open University (HOU).

He studied for his MSc in Tourism Management & Marketing at Bournemouth University (UK), where he graduated with distinction.

In 2000 he joined the University of Surrey (UK) to conduct his PhD research on tourism management and education, completing his research in 2004.

Dimitrios has over 15 years of experience in higher education teaching, both in Greece and abroad. He is the Assistant Editor of the Journal of Air Transport Studies and acts as a referee for several academic journals.

His research has been published in reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journals and he has participated in international scientific conferences and workshops. Alongside his academic duties he has worked with several government and private organisations on tourism project work. His research interests lie in the wider areas of tourism management and tourism education.

Nektaria Palaiologou

Associate Professor, School of Humanities, HOU

Nektaria Palaiologou is Associate Professor at the School of Humanities at Hellenic Open University (HOU), former Assoc. Professor at the School of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM) until 2020.

Since 2001 until today she has taught Intercultural Education, Migration and Refugee Education courses at six Greek and at two European Universities. In 2018 she was elected as one of the two Vice Presidents of the International Association for Intercultural Education (IAIE).

Nektaria is also serving as Editor in Chief at the Intercultural Education Journal, Taylor and Francis, Routledge and is also Editorial Board member on frequent basis at seven international journals. She has edited three books in English and three books in Greek (as co-writer) and translated two books in Greek. She has published extensively at international journals on issues about Intercultural Education, Immigrant and Refugee Education, Multilingual Teacher Education.

Nektaria has been participating as member of the scientific team at 10 international European projects in the past with UoWM as partner, in the field of Intercultural Education, Migration, Refugee Education Studies, in collaboration with European Universities and Organizations. Currently, with HOU as partner she participates at three European projects, one HORIZON 2020 project and two Erasmus + projects.

George Papagiannopoulos

Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences and Technology, HOU

George A. Papagiannopoulos is Associate Professor and Director of the MSc program ‘Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Resistant Structures’ at the Hellenic Open University.

He received his Diploma, MSc and Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras, Greece.

During the academic years 2013-2019 he served as Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras, Greece.

Moreover, during the academic years 2009-2019 he served as Instructor to the MSc programs ‘Engineering Construction Management’ and ‘Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Resistant Structures’ of the Hellenic Open University.

He has authored 1 book (in English) 2 chapters in books (in English), 44 papers in refereed international journals and 45 papers in proceedings of international conferences and workshops.

He has 711 citations and h-index of 14 per Google Scholar. He is currently Reviewer for 25 international Journals.

He has participated in 6 research programs financed by national and international organizations.

His research interests include earthquake engineering, analysis and design of steel structures, structural damping and soil-structure dynamics.
